A Quick Guide To Buying Art

One of the most common questions we get is what exactly are canvas prints, and what are the differences and/or benefits in relation to paper prints.

The short answer is it all depends on your personal tastes and preferences, budget, interior design, and location where the artwork will be displayed. Let’s look at each option, what their strengths and weaknesses are, and why you would select one over the other.

Prints On Paper Or Canvas

Oil and Acrylic paintings are generally done on canvas, so their prints look best on Canvas. Also, canvas prints do not exhibit any glare and reflection and are longer-lasting than paper.

Photographs and Digital Art are more suitable for printing on paper.

Framed Or Unframed/Rolls

To ensure that your artwork is ready to display when you receive it, framing is advised. A frame adds a formal and decorative accent to your home or office and gets the artwork the attention it deserves.

Prints, both on paper and canvas, are typically framed with 1” white mat and 1” wide black frame. We offer a variety of frame options to suit the artwork and can even offer custom options.

Besides this standard framing, a canvas print can also be stretched and mounted on a sturdy wooden frame (1-1.5” thick) to give you a Gallery-wrapped canvas, a favorite format of many art connoisseurs.

If you would like to frame the artwork yourself, choose an unframed version of the artwork, paper or canvas, and it will be sent to you as a roll in a sturdy tube.

Deciding The Best Option

In the end, it all depends on your tastes, preferences, and needs. We have installed many framed canvas prints in homes and corporate offices where any other option would certainly not have been as large and dramatic.

Customers love the frame-less look of a gallery-wrapped canvas and the flexibility of positioning without the need for specific lighting, and not having to worry about glare or reflections. Flexibility with large and panoramic sizes, and wonderful texture and color that a canvas brings to a room.

Of course, a beautiful frame is a classic, traditional look that will never go out of style and works well in an appropriate setting. Many artworks just work better on smooth photographic paper. Matted and framed, the image stands apart and creates a nice accent to a formal dining or living room.
